Untapped Montreal: what I’ve been writing about in the last few months

Here’s a new update on the cool things I’ve been writing about for Untapped Cities, as city correspondent for Montreal:

Benito Mussolini Madonna della difesa Montreal

Something most Montrealers don’t know: there’s a church in Montreal’s Little Italy that still features a fresco representing Benito Mussolini:

Photo tour: a walk through Notre-Dame des neiges cemetery in Montreal

Notre-Dame-des-neiges is the largest cemetery in all of Canada. Located in the middle of the city, it is easily accessible and is a great place for a long, contemplative walk, especially during the cold days of this fall season.

My travel bucketlist through music: Argentina

This is the third part of a series of 10 articles where I feature artists from one of the countries that is on my current list of ten countries that I want to visit before I die. We started out in Sweden, made our way to Brazil and are now stopping in Argentina.

I’m learning to speak Spanish right now. It’s another item on my bucket list that I’m trying to cross off, and it’s coming along a whole lot better than that other dream of becoming an opera singer 😉

I want to visit a Spanish-speaking country soon, so I set my sights on Argentina. This country has always fascinated me (maybe because growing up, Mafalda was my idol and I sometimes thought I was her real life incarnation).

Photo post: A view of Athens

Athens view

Athens, circa 2009. We were only supposed to stay in Athens for a few hours but we hit a transit strike in Italy and missed our flight to Santorini so we decided to stay two days in the capital of Greece before we headed our next destination (Istanbul). As much of inconvenience as this transit strike was at first (more on that later), we ended up having lots of fun in Athens and I’m glad we got to visit this fascinating city.
